Over 60's and under 16's

R110 for the15km. does not include a temporary license

R140 for the 15km, which includes a R30 temporary license

All participants must abide by the rules.

age & category tags

Walkers participating in the 15km walk must wear a numerical age and category tag to be eligible for prizes.

All distances start on Government Road (Outside Union Buildings). The finish will be on the field area of the Union Buildings

medical facilities

Full medical facilities on route during the event.

water points

To comply with Northern Gauteng Athletics Standards, there will be a water point aproximatley every 3km on all routes. Water points will be stocked with aQuelle water.

bathrooms

Toilets will be provided at start, on-route and finish.

lost & found

A dedicated area at the finish will be provided for all lost and found items.

hospitality

Areas have been allocated for corporates to entertain clients, guests and family. Contact Katherine on 011 705 3116 or katherine@mscsports.co.za for further information and to book your spot.

refreshments

Will be on sale at the Union Buildings at the finish and at the Hospitality Village. No open fires or gas bottles are permitted within the venue (Union Buildings, Pretoria). Bring along a picnic basket and enjoy the fun filled morning, prize giving & entertainment.

Join us at the finish and enjoy a live performance by Dewald Wasserfall & Johannesburg Youth Orchestra followed by the Pyrotechnics Show

Discovery Vitality Points

3000 Vitality points for participating in the 5km or 8km walks. 5000 Vitality points for participating in the 15km walk.

Please note; routes are subject to change should the organisers deem necessary

group information
  • Groups should consist of 10 members or more.
  • Payment should be for full team, not individually done.
  • Team members using paper based entry forms must fill in an entry form per team member.
  • Groups using paper based entry forms must be submitted together, with full payment, all individual forms PLUS a completed Team Consolidation list.
  • A common team name must be used. Please ensure that this is spelt exactly the same on all entry forms to ensure that team members are collated together for registration purposes.
  • Remember that non-licensed participants are required to pay the licence fee and this should accompany the entry fee (compulsory for 15 km only).
  • Groups entering using paper based entries are required to pay the additional R10 per person per entry. No entries will be accepted without the full, correct payment accompanying the entry forms and team consolidation list.
  • Groups of schools, friends, social clubs, businesses etc. are all encouraged.
5km & 8km information
  • The race is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and AGN.
  • Athletes indemnify the national, provincial and regional bodies, sponsors and organisers or the race against any or all actions of whatsoever nature, whatever the same maybe arising out of their participation in the race.
  • There will be no prize money for the 5 km and 8 km walks.
  • No blade, cyclist or mechanically operated device is allowed in the walk.
  • No animals allowed on the walk.
  • No iPods or listening devices.
  • All traffic officers and officials instructions to be obeyed.
  • Water stations will be positioned every 3kms.
15km information
  • The race is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and AGN. Athletes indemnify the national, provincial and regional bodies, sponsors and organisers of the race against any or all actions of whatsoever nature, whatever the same maybe arising out of their participation in the race.
  • Registered athletes must wear the current year’s (2014) licence number back and front, if issued with a race number this must be worn on the front of their vest.
  • Temporary licensed athletes to wear temporary licence on the back of their vest.
  • All licensed athletes competing for category prizes must wear numeric category tags clearly visible front and back. Proof of age for prize-winners will be required and to be presented to referees before prize giving. Prizes will be withheld until confirmed.
  • Walkers competing for prize money must wear WALKER/W tags on the front and back of their vest.
  • No seconding is allowed.
  • International athletes must provide a clearance letter from their country of origin to the referee in the event of them winning a prize.
  • Assisted wheelchairs are welcome on certain routes.
  • No blade, cyclist or mechanically operated device is allowed in the race.
  • No animals, unless otherwise specified.
  • No iPods or listening devices.
  • Minimum age: 15 yrs
  • Only South African athletes qualify for team prizes.
  • Temporary licensed athletes are eligible for open and category prizes, provided they have the age category tag clearly visible back and front of their vest. They are not eligible for AGN championships medals.
  • All traffic officers and officials instructions to be obeyed.
  • Athletes must comply with the domicilium rule when competing for team prize.
